Indonesia Secures Second Place in ASEAN Medal Tally at the 2023 Asian Games, Outshining Malaysia and Vietnam

aashvicorporation.com.–Indonesia’s contingent at the 2023 Asian Games has secured the second position in the ASEAN (Southeast Asian) medal tally. The Indonesian team, known as the “Merah-Putih” (Red and White), managed to outperform other Southeast Asian nations, including Malaysia and Vietnam.

As of Sunday, October 8, 2023, at 09:00 AM WIB (Western Indonesian Time), Indonesia stands at the 13th position in the overall medal standings for the 2023 Asian Games, which are being held in Hangzhou, China. The Indonesian contingent has amassed a total of 36 medals in this year’s Asian Games.

Out of these 36 medals earned by the Indonesian contingent at the 2023 Asian Games, an impressive 7 are gold, 11 are silver, and 18 are bronze. This remarkable medal haul has made history for Indonesia at the Asian Games in 2023.

Notably, Indonesia has achieved its highest number of gold medals in an overseas Asian Games event. Previously, Indonesia’s best performance at an Asian Games held outside its borders was in 1998 in Bangkok, where they secured 6 gold medals.

In contrast, the Indonesian contingent has surpassed this record by winning 7 gold medals at the 2023 Asian Games. Furthermore, their medal count places them second in the ASEAN region.

Meanwhile, Thailand has claimed the top spot in the Southeast Asian region, ranking 8th in the overall medal standings at the 2023 Asian Games with a total of 58 medals. Thailand’s impressive tally includes 12 gold medals, 14 silver medals, and 32 bronze medals.
